Top 5 Clubs in Rome
Apr 19 , 2011
Rome has a thriving nightlife that is comparable to that of any major European city. You'll find clubs and hotspots throughout the city where you'll mingle with locals and international travelers while dancing and enjoying the night in Rome. These are the top 5 clubs in Rome.
Alien
Alien, one of the city's best-known discos, offers guests an unforgettable club experience. Hop on Bus 38 and head to Via Velletri to discover what Alien has to offer. It is one of the longest-established clubs in Rome, and it is the go-to hotspot amongst Rome's fashionably elite. The crowd skews young, and you're likely to see a number of famous Italian actors and models, and if you're like you might even catch a glimpse of a Hollywood A-list celebrity. The music is equally as trendy as the clientele, and DJs spin electronic and house music on the weekends, with a more hip-hop and pop mix thrown in during the week. Alien is undoubtedly one of the top clubs in Rome.
Anima
This is the other must-see (or must-be-seen-in) club in Rome. Everything about Anima is funky and cool. Many club-goers here are on the younger, but you'll find a wider mix of ages and backgrounds (as well as incomes) than at Alien. You'll find house music here as well, but DJs also offer funk and soul for partiers to groove to. When you want to step off the dance floor, head for the loveseats, beds, and other accoutrement to rest your feet. Anima offers a trendy atmosphere that's less affected than other city hotspots, making it one of the top clubs in Rome.
Bonus: There's no cover charge at Anima
Qube
Qube is the best gay club in Rome. It is easily the city's biggest, and its most popular. In fact, at three, floors, Qube is the largest disco in Rome. Located on Via di Portonaccio, it attracts partiers with an eclectic variety of music, which varies nightly. Hop on the Metro toward Tiburtina and head to Qube on Thursdays for live rock bands, or on Saturdays for hip-hop, R&B, and house. If your schedule permits, try to make it to Muccassassina on Fridays, when the club's popular drag queen show delights Qube's guests.
Alexanderplatz
For jazz aficionados, there's no better club in Rome than Alexanderplatz. It books jazz musicians for nightly live performances, and what sets it apart from other jazz clubs is that it regularly books American musicians in addition to Italian ones, meaning that you might get a chance to see your favorite U.S.-born jazz performer during your trip. The food at Alexanderplatz is surprisingly excellent, so enjoy a meal while you listen to the music. Try the Japanese food; you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Scholars
If you're a student abroad, Scholars is always fun. More of a pub than a club in Rome, Scholars nonetheless offers familiar drinks at reasonable prices, and its food menu includes both Italian specialties and comfort foods, including nachos. Scholars hosts a lot of fun events, including game watches during American sports playoffs, karaoke night on Sundays and Tuesdays, and college night on Wednesday.
